What Is Included in a Gel Nail Kit?
A gel nail kit should come with four things at minimum: a UV LED lamp, gel polish, something to prep the nail before you apply, and something to remove the gel when you are done. Beyond that, the tools and extras vary significantly depending on which type of kit you are looking at - gel polish, builder gel, extensions, or press-ons - and knowing the difference before you buy saves you from ordering the wrong thing.

Gel Polish Kits - The Standard Starting Point
Most people searching for a nail kit are looking for a gel polish kit. These are designed for applying gel colour to natural nails and giving you a glossy, long-lasting finish without adding length. Ezmio has three gel polish kits at different price points.
The UV LED Lamp
The most important item in any gel nail kit, and the one that separates gel from regular polish. Gel polish does not air-dry; it cures through a photochemical reaction that requires UV or LED light. Without a lamp, gel polish will not harden. Every gel polish kit in the Ezmio range includes the 24W Nail Lamp UV LED, which cures in 60 seconds and comes with a one year manufacturer warranty.
Gel Polish
The colour. Ezmio kits use One Step Gel Polish, which skips the separate base coat and top coat that most gel systems require. Apply, cure for 60 seconds, repeat until you have the depth of colour you want. The formula is HEMA-free. Each kit includes your choice of one or two shades at checkout from over 100 options.
Nail Prep Tools
The Essential File shapes the free edge. The Essential Buffer lightly roughens the nail surface so gel has something to grip to — skip this and the gel lifts within days regardless of how carefully you applied the colour. Alcohol Prep Pads clean the nail plate before any product goes on, removing surface oils that prevent adhesion. A Mini Nail Brush sweeps away filing debris before application. All four are in every gel polish kit.
Cuticle Pusher
Gel that touches the cuticle or surrounding skin will lift at that point. A cuticle pusher moves the cuticle back before application for a clean margin. The Pro Cuticle Pusher is included in the Essential Gel Nail Kit ($229) and the Pro Gel Nail Kit ($329). The entry-level Gel Nail Kit ($189) does not include one — worth knowing before you order.
Removal
The Gel Nail Kit ($189) does not include a dedicated removal tool. The Pre-Soaked Acetone Gel Remover Wraps can be added separately, or you can use the acetone and foil method. The Essential Gel Nail Kit ($229) and Pro Gel Nail Kit ($329) both include the wraps and the Pro Scraper Tool as part of the kit, with the option at checkout to swap for the Peel Off Base Coat instead — a peel-off base coat applied under the colour changes removal entirely, no acetone required.
What the Pro Kit Adds
The Pro Gel Nail Kit ($329) includes everything in the Essential Kit plus: a Nail Dehydrator for stronger adhesion on oily nail beds, Cuticle Softener, Cuticle Oil, a Pro Cuticle Nipper, and a Pro Nail Cutter — the closest thing to nail clippers in the range, for trimming length before you start. The entry and mid-tier gel polish kits do not include cutting tools.
Builder Gel Kits — For Strength and Length
Builder gel is a thicker formula that sits above the natural nail plate, adding structural strength or length that gel polish cannot. It is applied differently from gel polish and removes differently too. The Essential Builder Gel Nail Kit ($289) is built specifically for this.
What it includes that gel polish kits do not: the 2in1 Base Coat and Extension Gel Adhesive, which is what builder gel bonds to; the No Wipe Top Coat for sealing the finished set; a Remover File for filing away the bulk of the product before acetone soak-off; and a 13mm Liner Brush for getting close to the cuticle edge during application. It also includes the Nail Lamp UV LED, Essential File, Essential Buffer, Mini Nail Brush, Pro Scraper Tool, Pro Cuticle Pusher, and Alcohol Prep Pads.
Builder gel removal requires more time than gel polish removal. You file away approximately 80% of the product first with the Remover File, then soak for 10 to 15 minutes. The filing step is what allows the acetone to penetrate the product and is the part most people skip, which is also why most removal problems with builder gel start.
Soft Gel Extensions Kits — For Adding Length
The Soft Gel Extension Starter Kit ($260) is for a different goal entirely: applying soft gel nail tips that add length to natural nails. This is not gel polish — it is a set of 300 pre-buffed clear soft gel extensions in your choice of shape and length, bonded to the natural nail and cured hard with the lamp.
The kit includes two lamps. A Flash Cure Lamp — a small 3W battery-powered lamp used for 10-second bursts during application to hold each extension in place before full cure — and the full 24W UV LED Nail Lamp for complete curing once all extensions are applied. This two-lamp system is what makes the application process manageable, as it allows you to work one nail at a time without the extension shifting before the adjacent ones are done.
Also included: the 2in1 Base Coat and Extension Gel Adhesive that bonds the tips to the natural nail, Essential File, Essential Buffer, Remover File, Pro Scraper Tool, Pro Cuticle Pusher, Mini Nail Brush, and Alcohol Prep Pads. The 300 extensions come in 15 sizes, 20 pieces per size, to ensure a fit across every nail bed.
Removal takes 15 to 20 minutes — longer than gel polish — and requires trimming the extensions back to the natural nail first, then filing away the bulk with the Remover File before soaking.
Press-On Nail Kits — Make Your Own Custom Press-Ons
The DIY Press On Nail Kit ($61) works differently from every other kit in the range. A UV lamp and gel products are purchased separately — what the kit provides is the setup for making your own custom press-on nails using Ezmio gels.
The Magnetic Nail Art Display Stand is the key piece. It holds soft gel nail tips in place while you paint and cure gel designs on them off-hand, without having to work directly on natural nails. Once the tips are decorated and cured, you apply them as press-ons using the included Brush On Nail Glue (up to two weeks of wear) or Adhesive Tabs (one to three days, damage-free). Remove with a warm water, soap, and oil soak — no acetone required.
This kit suits people who are not confident painting gel directly on natural nails or applying full gel extensions, but still want customised gel press-ons they have made themselves. The kit includes the display stand, soft gel nail extensions in your choice of shape, Brush On Nail Glue, and Adhesive Tabs.
What Is Not in Any Kit
Cuticle oil is not included in the Gel Nail Kit or Essential Gel Nail Kit. It is not required for the manicure itself but improves the finished look. The Cuticle Oil comes in the Pro Kit and can be added to any order separately.
Nail dehydrator is not in the Gel Nail Kit or Essential Gel Nail Kit. The Alcohol Prep Pads handle surface oil removal for most people; the dehydrator is an extra adhesion step for naturally oily nail beds. It is included in the Pro Kit.
Nail art tools are not in the standard gel kits. The nail art range covers brushes, stickers, and gel colours for designs and is available separately.
