Nail Prep FAQ's

Essential steps to prep your nails for a long-lasting mani.

What should I do about my cuticles?

We recommend using our cuticle softener to gently soften your cuticles, then pushing them back with either our Pro Cuticle Pusher or Glass Cuticle Pusher. If trimming is needed, our Pro Cuticle Clippers are perfect for the job. Be sure to avoid painting over your cuticles, as this can cause lifting as your nails grow. Also, it’s best to avoid moisturising your cuticles before your manicure, as it can leave an oily residue that may affect the longevity of your manicure. Instead, apply our Ezmio Cuticle Oil at the end of your manicure to boost circulation, encourage growth, and protect the health of your nails.

Do I need to buff my nails before applying gel?

Yes, lightly buffing your nails before applying gel is an important step. It helps remove the natural shine and creates a smooth surface for the gel to adhere to, ensuring longer-lasting results.

After buffing, follow with our dehydrator or 100% alcohol to thoroughly remove any remaining natural oils and ensure optimal adhesion of the gel products. Proper nail prep is key to achieving a flawless, durable manicure.

My nails don’t seem to set after the recommended curing time?

The only Ezmio gel products that cure without tackiness are our One Step Gel and No Wipe Top Coat. If these products have a sticky surface after curing, it’s likely that the gel was applied too heavily. Place your hand under Our Nail Lamp for an additional 60 seconds. For future applications, be sure to apply thinner coats, as thicker layers can prevent proper curing and may lead to premature chipping.

For all other Ezmio gels, it is completely normal for them to cure with a tacky finish. These gels will require a final layer of either One Step Gel or No Wipe Top Coat to seal and remove the tackiness.

Do I need to wipe with rubbing alcohol after Ezmio One Step Gel or Top Coat?

No, there’s no need to wipe with rubbing alcohol after using Ezmio One Step Gel or our No Wipe Top Coat. These products cure without leaving any sticky residue, so once they’re cured under Our Nail Lamp for 60 seconds, your manicure is good to go!

My One Step Gel is still transparent after many coats?

For some of our lighter colours, you may notice they are slightly more transparent. We recommend adding additional coats until you’re satisfied with the coverage. There’s no limit to the number of coats you can apply, but it’s important to ensure that each coat is kept thin to achieve longer-lasting results and proper curing.

My nails are bubbling, what did I do wrong?

If you notice bubbling in your manicure, it’s likely due to applying the gel too heavily, which prevents it from curing properly. You will need to remove all of the gel and reapply, as any uncured gel may lead to a reaction. To avoid this, apply thinner coats and ensure each layer is cured for 60 seconds under Our Nail Lamp. This will help achieve a smooth, bubble-free finish.
